Xu Jilin, Professor of History Department of East China Normal University, Executive Deputy Director of China Institute of Modern Thought and Culture, Specially Appointed Zijiang Scholar. He is also the vice president and secretary-general of the Shanghai Historical Society, a member of the Chinese History Society, a member of the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Federation, and the editorial board of the "21st Century" magazine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1977, he became the first college student to resume the college entrance examination after the Cultural Revolution, and was admitted to the Department of Political Education of East China Normal University.
