【内容提要】
The American legal profession is under continuing public attack, and much of this ire has beendirected at attorney advertising. In its 1977 decision in Bates v. State Bar, [FN3] the Supreme Court extended First Amendment commercial speech protections to attorney advertising in response to earlier state attempts to prohibit such advertising.
