Recruitment notice for young full-time researchers at The China Institute for Socio-Legal Studies (CISLS) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University


In order to enhance the research capabilities of The China Institute for Socio-Legal Studies (CISLS) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (hereinafter "the Institute"), attract outstanding talents from home and abroad, and promote the development of the institute to a higher level, we are now publicly recruiting young full-time researchers from the society. The professional directions of recruitment are sociology of law, social history of law, jurisprudence, and comparative law, with a focus on family law sociology, relationship contract theory and relationship law, law and social network analysis, complex legal systems theory, digital transformation of law and society, law and computational social sciences, law and artificial intelligence governance, legal issues of AI big models, and other fields. We warmly welcome outstanding scholars and young talents in related research fields to join us!


Recruitment requirements

1.Graduate education, doctoral degree.

2.To obtain a doctorate in law, all stages of higher education are full-time and have obtained the corresponding degree.

3.Age under 35 years old ( including ).

4.Skillful use of English or other foreign languages for professional research and communication, with foreign education or research experience is preferred.

5. Have a solid theoretical foundation of legal theory and other related disciplines, have strong scientific research ability, and have published a certain number of research results.

6.People with national project participation experience or provincial and ministerial project hosting experience are preferred.

7.Love academic, physical health, with a good team spirit.


Job responsibilities

1.Engaged in academic research in the relevant fields of the Institute, presided over or participated in various scientific research projects, and published high-level academic papers.

2.To grasp the academic development frontiers and trends of the Institute, actively participate in academic activities at home and abroad, and promote the theoretical and empirical research of the Institute.

Remuneration

The Institutes will provide competitive salaries, research start-up fees, housing subsidies and various welfare guarantees for the recruited teachers, and provide first-class office conditions.

About the China Institute for Socio-Legal Studies

The China Institute for Socio-Legal Studies (CISLS) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (hereinafter "the Institute"), founded in September 2009 with an initial name of KoGuan School of Law Legal Sociology Research Center, is a university–based interdisciplinary research institution. Officially approved by the University in April 2019 and inaugurated on June 12th of the same year, the Institute endeavors to establish a world–class academic institution of social science, and to serve as a non–governmental think tank in an appropriate manner.

Since its establishment, CISLS has been an active promoter of interdisciplinary integration and research of arts and sciences from the legal aspect, also an experienced practitioner in field investigations, empirical analysis and scientific researches. Focusing on the exploration of theoretical frontier and the comparison of institutional design schemes, the Institute gradually completed an all–round collection covering from journals and publications, workshops and academic salons, to research projects and high–end forum discussions.

The institute focuses on the major issues of national and social development, and actively seeks an in-depth exploration on various legal matters in the transformation of Chinese social system. The Institution investigates the governance methods for large-scale society, network society, risk society and data-driven society by means of empirical science, cognitive science and intelligent science and technology. It provides an objective and reliable basis for explaining and understanding the Chinese phenomenon and recommends solutions to Global issues and crisis.
