On the afternoon of April 17, the 216thMaster Forum of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was successfully held in theWenzhi Hall of Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Professor WangZejian, a leading scholar in civil law and an honorary professor at the Schoolof Law of National Taiwan University, was invited to give an academic lectureentitled "Basis of Claim, Case Study and Legal Education". The MasterDistinguished Lecture was hosted by the Graduate School of Shanghai Jiao TongUniversity, and co-organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University KouguanSchool of Law, the Chinese Institute for Social-Legeal Studies andthe Center for Japanese Studies. Gu Feng, full-time deputy director of theCouncil of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhang Mingqi, vice president of ChinaLaw Society, Ji Weidong, dean of Chinese Institute for Social-Legeal Studies ofShanghai Jiao Tong University and director of the Center for Japanese Studies,Peng Chengcheng, dean of Kouguan School of Law of Shanghai Jiao Tong University,Jin Keke, dean of the Law School of East China University of Political Scienceand Law, Jiang Huiling, dean of the Law School of Tongji University, SongXiaoyan, dean of the Law School of Shanghai University of Finance andEconomics, and vice dean of the Graduate School of Shanghai Jiao TongUniversity. More than 1,500 teachers, students, scholars, and experts fromoutside the university, including Cheng Jinhua, vice president of the Chinese Institutefor Social-Legeal Studies, listened to the report.
The forum was presided over by Ji Weidong,President of Chinese Institute for Social-Legeal Studies and Director of theCenter for Japanese Studies. Professor Ji Weidong extended a warm welcome toProfessor Wang Zejian, a renowned law master at home and abroad, and expressedhis gratitude to Professor Wang for the valuable exchange opportunity.

Zhang Mingqi, vice president of the China Law Society,delivered a speech in the form of online participation. He extended a warmwelcome to Mr. Wang Zejian and expressed his deep respect for Mr. Wang Zejian'sresearch and teaching of civil law. He said that Mr. Wang Zejian's research hasprovided valuable reference and reference for the majority of legal researchersand practitioners, and encouraged the participants to cherish the preciousopportunity to discuss the frontier issues of law with Mr. Wang Zejian, andlooked forward to working with everyone present to promote the furtherdevelopment of legal research.
In the report, Professor Wang Zejian talked about his ownexperience of studying in Germany, further introduced the basis of claim, andexplained in depth the construction of the basis of claim and the applicationof the method of claim basis in solving legal problems through cases. Inaddition, he also introduced in detail the thinking mode of the basis of theclaim through a number of cases, and explained how to carry out the step offinding the method in the application of the basis of the claim, the order ofinspection, and the factors to be considered for inspection in differentsituations. In the report, Professor Wang Zejian guided everyone to think aboutthe opposition between the right to claim and the defense. Professor WangZejian also introduced the method and importance of applying case study inlegal education, and focused on the identification of case solving mode.Finally, Professor Wang Zejian put forward his ardent expectations forcase-based legal education, encouraging students to carry out self-learning andadhere to the mission of lawyers.
