The International Symposium on "Law and Economy in the Digital Era- A Sino- Japanese Dialogue on Social Governance and Policy Science" was successfully hosted
On March 21, 2024, the international symposium on "Law and Economy in the Digital Era - Sino Japanese Dialogue on Social Governance and Policy Science" was successfully held at Room 202, Room 203, KoGuan School of Law, Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. This seminar is hosted by KoGuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; China Institute for Socio-Legal Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Center for Japanese Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Kobe University Graduate School of Law; Econo-Legal Studies (ELS) Program presented by Graduate School of Law, and Graduate School of Economics, Kobe University; The Kobe University Center for Social Systems Innovation (KUSSI) Econo-Legal Studies (ELS) Global Initiative. Ji Weidong, University Professor of Humanity and Social Sciences; President of China Institute for Socio-Legal Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Director of Center for Japanese Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University presided over the opening ceremony of the forum. Peng Chengxin, Distinguished Professor and Dean of KoGuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Takahashi Hiroshi, Former Dean of Faculty of Law, Professor of Graduate School of Law, Kobe University attended the seminar and delivered speeches.
This seminar invited Kadomatsu Narufumi Professor of Graduate School of Law, Kobe University; Shen Wei Distinguished Professor of KoGuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Takahashi Hiroshi Professor of Graduate School of Law, Kobe University; Lin Yan Professor of KoGuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Riminucci Michela Associate Professor of Graduate School of Law, Kobe University; Hou Liyang Professor of KoGuan School of Law, Director of the Center for Law and Economics at KoGuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Gao Qi Associate Professor of KoGuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University to attend and give speeches. Undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Kobe University gathered together through a combination of online and offline methods, conducting in-depth discussions and warm exchanges on the theme of "Law and Economy in the Digital Era—A Sino-Japanese Dialogue on Social Governance and Policy Science".
The opening ceremony of the seminar was presided over by Ji Weidong, University Professor of Humanity and Social Sciences; President of China Institute for Socio-Legal Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Director of Centre for Japanese Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Professor Ji Weidong introduced his teaching experience at Kobe University, and also mentioned that Mr. Sun Yat sen and Mr. Liang Qichao have inseparable connections with the city of Kobe. He pointed out that Kobe University established partnerships with Shanghai University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University 15 years ago, and established interdisciplinary collaborative research bases that combine social and natural sciences. In 2018, Kobe University's legal and economic research and education program, as well as the Social System Innovation Center, became a core component of the base and received support from all parties. The main purpose of this international seminar is to promote in-depth exchanges between young people from China and Japan, especially future elites in the legal and economic fields, and to jointly explore cutting-edge issues in the digital age.
Peng Chengxin, Distinguished Professor and Dean of KoGuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University delivered an opening speech on behalf of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He first introduced the speakers and students from Japan, and expressed a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to them. Peng Chengxin pointed out that in the face of the wave of digitization and the drastic changes in society, China and Japan have seen common goals and requirements of both sides, and both sides should exchange and share their views in a timely manner. Therefore, as the main goal of both parties, this seminar aims to closely monitor policy adjustments to understand the progress of the digital age, while exchanging ideas on social governance and policy science, and paying high attention to the resulting social transformation. He believes that today's seminar is a golden opportunity for Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Kobe University to establish closer cooperation, and also an excellent opportunity to build a better academic exchange platform between universities, faculty, and students.
Takahashi Hiroshi, Former Dean of Faculty of Law, Professor of Graduate School of Law, Kobe University, delivered an opening speech on behalf of Kobe University. He expressed gratitude for Director Ji Weidong's invitation and introduced the composition of the students who participated in the speech at Kobe University today. Among the 11 students who participated in the speech, 7 were graduate students and 4 were undergraduate students. In addition, among these 11 students, 5 were studying law and 6 were studying economics. This meant that this seminar had developed into a broad form of communication among students, which is of great significance. Takahashi Hiroshi believed that this seminar will be a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the two sides, and once again expressed gratitude to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the co-organizer of this seminar.
Subsequently, the seminar entered the stage of report publication, with Professor Ji Weidong serving as the host. Professor Kadomatsu Narufumi gave a keynote speech titled “Normative Foundations of Vaccine Compensation”. He first introduced the history of immunization in Japan and elaborated on the system and regulatory basis for compensating for vaccine adverse reactions. In addition, he also made a specific analysis on the compensation of COVID-19 vaccine.
